Rey Barrio: Germán Valdés, as "Tin Tan", (1915-1973) is portrayed with skeletal features and day of the dead imagery. Although he was a very popular and prolific performer in his lifetime, it was not until years after his death (of cancer) that Germán Valdés was recognized as a cult figure of Mexican cinema. Tin Tan originally played a pachuco (a Mexican-American, complete with zoot suit). This painting not only wishes to remind the living souls of the talent of Valdez but also wishes to rekindle the lost art of Mexican film posters.
